How to Open and Successfully Run an Auto Shop in GTA V Online

For this month, all GTA+ members get some prime bonuses that double their profits from the Auto Shop business. That includes every client that drives in your garage, to the special Robber Contracts that you can do on the side. But if you don’t have an Auto Shop or struggle to build it off the ground, how do you even make a profit? What about the Car Meet RP too? What’s that? In this guide, we’ll go over everything you need to know to make your Auto Shop a hot spot in Los Santos.

🔓 How to Unlock the Auto Shop Business

To gain access to the Auto Shop business, you first gotta meet up with some people at the nearest LS Car Meet. You can find the logo for the meetup on your map typically near La Mesa. You’ll know you found the spot if you find a large warehouse. If you enter inside, you’ll meet the leader of the group named Mimi as a cutscene plays. Finishing the cutscene will notify you of the business option through the Maze Bank Foreclosures. You can also purchase a membership through the bank for 50,000 GTA$, which’ll give you access to a bunch of premium cars. Want to get more vehicles quickly? Find some cheap gta modded accounts right now!

Once you’re ready to actually purchase your Auto Shop, you can open up the many locations available through the same bank. There’s 5 locations in total each with their own prices, but what they offer all remain the same. The cheapest goes for 1,670,000 GTA$ in Mission Row, while the most expensive is in La Mesa for 1,920,000 GTA$.

While the latter location seems the most promising on paper since it’s so close to the Car Meet Warehouse, you want to decide this more carefully. Most of your money will be going towards upgrading your Auto Shop rather than just buying the business itself. The more money to initially spend, the more you’ll be spending all around. Also, since every location is relatively the same, you should focus more on the travel distance between your other businesses instead to make your life easier.

🏎️ Auto Shop Upgrades

Along with the five possible locations, there are also 5 upgrades you can choose to add on right from the gate. These upgrades can be added whenever you’d like long after purchasing the Auto Shop though. If you wanna wait for the shop to build so money first, you by all means can. However, the only real upgrades that benefit how your Auto Shop runs is the Staff. Everything else is more for cosmetic reasons and for personal preference.

We’ll go over the cosmetics first, which are entirely optional and are recommended to skip if you are low on GTA$. The first is the Style of the Auto Shop. This upgrade changes the look of your shop the most and you can switch between each choice to view them before purchasing. They change the overall paint job and theme of the building to make it a little more appealing. There’s also the Tint and Emblem upgrades, which affect the color of your stairway railings and the logo your Shop displays out front.

The Staff upgrade is the most important option you should look at first. By hiring at least one Staff member, you save a bunch of time in finding and completing Client job orders. It essentially helps automate your business so you can put more of your time elsewhere. However, the Staff will take a cut of your profits as payment. Considering the helpful automation though, the pay cut is well worth it.

The final major upgrade you can implement are for your Personal Quarters. This comes with your own living space with a bed, wardrobe, and gun locker. What this does is essentially make it easier to spawn in your Auto Shop, save your game, pick out clothes, and access your weapons quickly. You can also decide to get a second car lift to work on multiple cars at once, which should be your second priority purchase.

💰 Helping Clients & Doing Contracts

Now we get to the really exciting part of the Auto Shop, which is running it! As you play GTA Online, you’ll occasionally receive messages about clients that visit your Auto Shop in need of repairs, new paint jobs, etc. You also gotta deliver the car back to the client, but your Staff members can do that automatically to save time.

Completing client requests gets you some good money, but the Contracts are where the real profits lie. There are six Contract missions you can do in total, but there will be three that rotate every day. They essentially work as short heist-like missions for extra money. Completing these Contracts and serving Clients will give you RP with the LS Car Meet group. The more RP you earn, the more new and exclusive cars and clothing you get in reward.
